Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2017 | 0.9 GB
At the end of October, Microsoft released its latest ERP software Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017. The new release sets its focus on three pillars: "Bringing two worlds together" (Office 365 and Power BI with NAV), "Enhancing the core application and platform" (Finance, CRM, user friendliness etc.) and "Creating new opportunities" (Cortana Intelligence, Power Apps etc.). Dynamics NAV 2017 has been conceived for ease and innovation through and through.
In this release, besides the classic on-premise solution Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017, the cloud-based enterprise solution Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Financials will also become available in the spring of 2017. However, the range of functions will be "limited" to the core processes of Dynamics NAV 2017 (e.g. Jobs and Accounting). Keep reading as we describe some of the interesting new functions and enhancements to the ERP system.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Feature Highlights:
Office 365 Integration / Outlook Client
Dynamics NAV is directly integrated in Office 365. Users can navigate effortlessly between NAV data and Microsoft Office to create emails directly using content from NAV (Outlook Client). With Power BI integration, you can generate insightful charts and reports in NAV and make them available in the respective role centers.
Functional enhancements in Financial Management, SCM and Application Area
Besides the many functional enhancements in financial management, such as easier financial report creation, account categories, simplified assets accounting and improvements to the cash flow module, there is a completely revised role center for the project manager. Categorization, management and filtering of articles have become easier by assigning item attributes. When it comes to E-Everything, OCR services for importing invoices have been improved and integrated hyperlinks for payment services in invoices have been implemented.
Better user experience
Microsoft has paid greatest attention to improvements in the user experience - it must be easy and intuitive. Like the new Smart Notifications for example, which give users advice and recommendations in-context. Notifications appear to the user as tips relating to the task at hand. The new notifications can also help guiding inexperienced users through complex and unfamiliar tasks. As another new feature, lists now exist in different picture forms for an optimized display on all terminal devices. A series of new Assisted Setup Wizards help you navigate through the setup. And there are many detailed improvements to be found in the App and Phone Client.
Cortana Intelligence is a suite that can process large volumes of data, and offers enhanced analytical functions to transform data into intelligent future campaigns and forecasts. For example, you can generate effective predictions of future sales from historical data out of Dynamics NAV or make forecasts of cash flow trends. You will have all the possibilities of Azure Machine Learning at your fingertips in the context of your own business software.
Integration of Power Apps and Microsoft Flow
With Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Connectors, integrating Microsoft Flow or Power Apps is incredibly easy. Microsoft Flow combines various cloud-based data and services to create workflows of tasks, such as saving sales opportunities on cloud storage services. With Power Apps, you can create and publish streamlined apps, e.g. for smartphones, based on your own data (Dynamics NAV 365, Office 365 etc.).
Extensions in App Source
With Dynamics NAV 2017, there are now also many extensions available to download and purchase from Microsoft's App Source. Examples of downloadable extensions are Quick Box or PayPal.
